Mozzeria @Mission

Image
Webpage:   http://www.mozzeria.com/ Address: 3228 16th St, San Francisco, CA 94103 Food Rating: 4 out of 5 If you are looking for a nice quaint Italian restaurant, good enough but not busy with long queues and huge crowds, then this is prolly one that you will like. Mozzeria boasts itself with its pizza baked in a Stefano Ferrera Oven , which after googling, I realized was for 'artisan' pizzas (well, everything is artisan now, right?!!).  But in all seriousness, the restaurant has a nice homy atmosphere.  I was slightly surprised that the waitresses are deaf and it was like we were doing 'charades' sometimes, just to guess what she was trying to tell us but it all was good and great. As for the food, I had Eggplan parmigiana, which was just great.  I have bias for eggplants so .... :)  We also ordered pulled pork pizza.  It tasted good but not really my cup of tea.  It was savory and sweet at the same time.  Figs, pork, and cheese - I don't really like the

Southpaw BBQ & Southern Cooking (Mission - SF)

Image
Webpage:  http://www.southpawbbqsf.com/ Address: 2170 Mission St Food Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Just along the Mission Street (and 18th Street) is a nice BBQ place called South Paw.  I won't say it's amazing but it has good BBQ plates and the price is not that bad.  We ended up paying 40 dollars for order of 2 Meat plates.  Also, they allowed me to do half / half (basically order a plate where I can choose two kind of meats, instead of just one kind of meat).  What is good is they have various sauces as well, from Memphis, Texas, Chili Gralic and Hot Sauce. Ribs and Brisket with Mac and Cheese and Sweet potato tater tots. Love the tater tots - and what's good is it's Sweet Potato. Mac and Cheese - like it as well.  Not too cheesy, just about right that it tastes good. Brisket- soft and chewy. I like it too. Ribs - meh.. felt like a bit burned so didn't really like it. BBQ Chicken with Bacon & Cheese grits and Fried Pickles Grits was good an

Bun Mee (Vietnamese Street Food) at Market Street

Image
Webpage: http://www.bunmee.co/ Addresses: 650 Market Street 2015 Fillmore Street Food Rating: 4 out of 5 For those wanting Vietnamese Cheap Eats, this is one place to go.  I've tried their bun bowls which cost around 11 to 15 dollars, depending on what kind of meat you want.  I actually loved the fact that they have 'catfish' as one option.  Also the Vietnamese Fried Spring rolls are just great to go with the bun Bowl. Red Cafe (Mission, San Francisco)

Image
Webpage: http://redcafesf.net/ Address:   2894 Mission Street San Francisco Food Rating: 2 out of 5 This is an inconspicuous cafe along the 24th Street and Mission.  It does seem to have very good reviews in yelp (especially with its plantains, which unfortunately, I have not tried). I've order Corned beef hash with toast which cost around 10 bucks and coffee around 2 bucks. Overall, the food was 'meh' rather than nice or decent.  Corned beef tasted like those canned corned beef and really not worth paying 10 bucks.   Coffee is just normal coffee and nothing spectacular.  I wouldn't come back here but then again, the good thing is that it's close to my place and there's not much of a queue.  Or maybe at least go back for Plantains. The Natural Kitchen

Image
http://www.thenaturalkitchen.com/ Address: 77 Marylebone High Street Rating: 4 out of 5 stars This feels like a more upscale Whole Foods Market with an affordable and good food to eat for Breakfast and Lunch.  They have good smoothies as well if you love them.

Tozi Restaurant @ Victoria

Image
Less than a 5-minute walk from Victoria Station is a hidden-gem called Tozi.  A bit inconspicuous, Tozi is actually well-liked by many of my colleagues and friends.   It is easy to find the restaurant as it is annexed to Park Plaza Victoria hotel. The food is Italian small plates, so kinda like Tapas-style.  We visited this on a Thursday and it was a bit packed.  Set menu was 40 pounds and had 7 courses plus desserts. Link:  http://www.tozirestaurant.co.uk/ Address: 8 Gillingham St, London SW1V 1HJ Nearest Tube: Victoria Station (It is less than a 5-minute walk) When: July 2, 2015 The Set Menu Aperitifs Tasty bread served with Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil Charcuterie - Nothing really fantastic. Burrata with tomatoes and Basil Haven't really tried Burrata but apparently it is Italian cheese made from Mozzarella and Cream.  Wasn't really that interesting nor the tomatoes that fresh for me.   Asparagus, quail eggs, and truffle salad

Isle of Wight, UK

How to go there 1) Take a train to Portsmouth or Southampton, and take a passenger ferry to Isle of Wight *** I haven't tried this but you can take a Hovercraft from Portsmouth More info here:  http://southernvectis.goahead.live.pancentric.net/visiting-island/ you can go around Isle of Wight by taking the Needle Breezer (Tour bus) for 10 pounds - Unlimited travel for 24 hours. Compton Beach According to my friend, he read somewhere that this is one of the hidden gems of the Isle of Wight.  The beach has a beautiful view of the Needles and the sunset.  This place is not easily accessible without a car and thus, not so much tourists, but just people who just actually drive there to see the sun set and enjoy the 'peace' and tranquility of the Isle of Wight. Shanklin Beach Prolly one of the more touristy places in Isle of Wight.  The Shanklin beach has a nice promenade (don't expect too much as it is small and just plain simple).
