Cho Dang Tofu House - Cerritos

Image
Cho Dang Tofu House - Cerritos 12245 Artesia Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703 Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Feedback: I actually prefer this than Chung Dam or BCD because the Mackerel is bigger and the Tofu soup that goes with the combination is bigger (in a regular bowl). I like BCD because the rice is served in a Korean stone pot :) Grilled Mackerel is tasty with caramelized onions and really tastes yummy. Tofu Soup is good as always. I also love the lightly dressed lettuce salad that they serve. I wonder what dressing they put in.

Chung Dam, Soon Tofu Soup, Norwalk, CA

Location:  Chung Dam Tofu 청담 순두부 18921 Norwalk Blvd, Artesia, CA 90701 Rating: 4 out of 5.0 Feedback: I tried a variety of stuff here and went twice and so far here' s a quick review. The side dishes are OK, wish it was a bit more, but they are the usual Korean Side Dishes.  They also have that tasty small fried fish as a side, I think it goes with the Soon Tofu (since we only got on for ordering one combination). Ordered the Grilled Atka Mackerel combination.  The Mackerel was good, and lightly salted so if you are looking for something very tasty then this is not what you want.  I do prefer the one in Cho Dang though because that one has caramelized onions and just tastier because of the sauce which it was marinaded in. Soon Tofu - can't really differentiate but the combination is smaller like the one in BCD.  Seems like Cho Dang uses the regular size Soon Tofu bowl for ordering Soon Tofu or if it is part of a combination, so I guess Cho Dang is better bang for the buck. Old Pasadena

Image
Went around Colorado Blvd where Old Pasadena is.  Very crowded and vibrant despite the pandemic. A lot of shops and restaurants and just nice to walk around.

Glendale Galleria, Los Angeles

Image
This place is a huge outdoor mall that sprawls several blocks in Glendale.  The main area where they have the Americana restaurant has a nice European Plaza/square with an Eiffel Tower Replica and Trolley Tracks and some European restaurants like La Duree and Le Pain Quotidien and Italian Delis like De Luca's.  Along Brand Blvd, there is Philz, Egg Slut, Din Dai Fung, or for the burger enthusiast, In-N-Out.  There is also a huge Ross and Marshall's store for those planning doing budget shopping.

Cabrillo Beach and Around

Image
Cabrillo Beach seems to be really off as you have to go cross two bridges and where the pier and ships are.  The beach itself is OK with one side, kinda "meh" because the view of the cargo ships while the other side is kinda nice with people wind surfing and there's a nice walk towards the jetty. Unfortunately, no food area around here. Not sure if the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium has a restaurant or two but it is closed due to pandemic. Crafted and Marketplace are situated at the Warehouse at the Port of Los Angeles. The marketplace sells nice crafts but I have really nothing to buy there.  The Crafted Brewery is spacious, not sure if they have some food but all I saw there was just beer. Cabrillo Way Marina is a nice area for seeing Yachts docked there and there's one restaurant there. But nothing much to do.

Balboa Beach, New Port, Orange County, California

Image
Balboa Village/ Beach - I actually enjoyed this place. Not as big as Newport Beach or Hungtington but quite quaint and nice.  There's a pier with Ruby's at the end, so I guess you can dine and wait for Sunset there.   There's a Pavilion that you can take ferry to an island nearby and even an auto ferry.  There's a nice small place with Ferris Wheel and "Fun Zone."  Not a lto of food options, but there are some tacos, pizza, bbq, funnel cakes etc.

Worsham Canyon Trail, Whittier, LA County

Image
Went down to Philadelphia Street to Park and climb up the Worsham Canyon Trail.  It was pretty steep to go up and it was extremely hot today at around 80 F.  But was rewarded with beautiful fields of white flower (sort of superbloom).  The entrance from Philadelphia was also closed but I saw a couple of hikers so I just went in as well.  I only met a couple for my entire 1.5 hours hike there.   Seems to be connected to another trail so you can go definitely for miles and miles.
