Airport to City: It costs 200NOK via tax from airport to City (so if there's around 2 or 3 of you, it prolly is cheaper to just take cab).  It is 10 minutes away from the city. You can take a flybus for 90 NOK and has a couple of stops in the city. How to get there? Seems like trains don't really get there so the best way is to take a plane. Normally you fly in OSLO and then from there take a domestic flight to Tromso. It is slightly expensive though, it costs around 250 USD back and forth and it was supposed to be already cheap. Things to do: Chasing Northern Lights Find something better than Arctic Guide Services Whale Safari Book some other tour groups, instead of HaveCruise   Fjord Tour Do not book Marianne's Fjord Tour   Dog Sledding  Reindeer and Sami Culture Cable Car (http://fjellheisen.no/en/) If you want to have a good view of the city, try to take the cable car 170 NOK Bibliothek (L

(Tromso) Marianne’s Fjord, Whale, Eagle and Wildlife Photography Tour

Website: From the VisitTromso Site http://www.chasethelighttours.co.uk/ Costs: 950 NOK Rating: 1 out of 5 stars Feedback The tour was supposed to start at 9. She wasn't there. Tried calling her and couldn't contact her. Went to tourist office and realized that she changed the time to 10 am already because of the day shift. But did NOT coordinate with the tourist office that handles their booking. We woke up early just for this and have to wait another hour for her to show up (and she was a few minutes late even then)!!!! What we got was just an apology that doesn't even sound sincere. She brought us around the Fjord and most of the time she will tell us to go down and take photo. She most often doesn't even go down from her van. There is little info that she shares or talks about. Pros: - Really good photo stops - We saw Whales in the Fjord (lucky!). She was trying to look out during the drive. Basically skip this tour, waste of your time, you will proll

Tromso Whale Safari/ Whale Watching (havecruise)

Website: http://havcruise.no/en/book-online Cost: 1300 NOK Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Feedback: This again was an OK trip.  Considering that we paid a lot more as it was 1300. We felt a bit robbed by paying that much because of the following It was Catamaran, but not the luxury catamaran where the front area is where there's some sort of  an open space that you can just see. Looking at the picture, it really just looks like an ordinary boat. We ended up in a place where there were Orcas and Humpback whales and it was good. But Unlike the other boats/ tours where they were really trying to get close to the whales.  Our tour instead most of the time stood still while the whales were moving away from us.  The ship captain was interested more in CATCHING his OWN fish to eat later than letting us make the most of our tour and get close to the whale. We asked him to move to the whales and his response was that it's not his problems that the whales were swimming away (what a jer

Tromso - Chasing Northern Lights (Artic Guide Service)

Image
Website : http://www.arcticguideservice.com/ Cost: 950 NOK per person and 1710 for 2 nights Rating: 3.5 out 5 star Feedback This was generally an OK tour and we were lucky to see Northern Lights.  Cheaper than most tours.  However This is usually for bigger group of people so you end up with a bigger bus and the issue is that you have only some locations you can go to. We ended up going to a place where there are still some lights so it wasn't as great as what you see with other tours with smaller groups. What site they use to check the forecast?  Aurora Ovation Where we went? Kvaloyvagen (.5 hours away) Sommaroy (1.5 hours away) We were situated where we can see the Sommaroy bridge

Website: https://citybox.no/english/ Address: P rinsens gate 6, 0152 Oslo, Norway Rating: 4 out of 5 star Feedback Pros Very Cheap - I paid 2385 NOK for 3 nights which is 280 USD  or which is less than 100 USD per night.  I asked to make it for 3 people and thus, adding 1 bed and 150 NOK (18 USD) per night Location! Location! Location! 5 minutes away from the Oslo Sentrum Station  Just a block away from the Karl Johans Gate (Shopping Street) Self-service You can leave your luggage somewhere Cons They did not change the towels nor clean the room and we were day for 3 nights There were no mugs or anything, but you can get disposables at the canteen at the ground floor You can borrow hair dryer or water boiler Small Room Overall At any rate, this is cheap so this is good if you just need basic amenities as the location is good. I asked to have a bed added and they added 150 NOK per night
