Website:  http://insitu.sfmoma.org/ Address:   151 3rd St, San Francisco, CA 94103 (near Powell Street BART) Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Star Feedback: Good food but very small and pricey! Indeed kinda like a Michelin Starred restaurant. Apocalypse Burger Lettuce Wrap Anthony Myint, Mission Street Food, SF 2016 It is actually quite good though tad small for $12.    Interesting is that there's a hard shell similar to Papadoms added with Squid Ink. This whole thing is wrapped with lettuce (adding aioli inside) and it tastes quite good. Glazed Chicken Thigh Onsen Egg, Lettuce, Sansho, Teriyaki Hiroshi, Sasaki, Gion Sasaki Kyoto Japan 2015 I didn't really like this .. though cheap compared to the rest (14 dollars).   This tasted like ordinary teriyaki chicken I can buy in food courts. Wasabi Lobster Mango  jelly, thai vinaigrette, wasabi marshmallow Tim Raue, Restaurant Tim Raue Berlin German

Alexander's Patisserie (Castro Street, Mountain View)

** Not in San Francisco ** Website : http://www.alexanderspatisserie.com/ Address: 209 Castro St, Mountain View, CA 94041 Rating: 4 out of 5 star Feedback: It's good but too tad expensive.  I prefer the pastries in  Craftsman & Wolves  . Chocolate Mousse ($10) It was really good but I felt that the berry/banana version of  Craftsman & Wolves  was much better.

Harakiri Roll It was OK! Sesame Hot Wings too sweet and sticky

Lechon Pork Belly Recipe

Image
I sooo liked the lechon pork belly that they served during Lumpia Palooza that I decided googling fro the recipe and doing it myself.  Also, it was tad expensive like 10 dollars for a lechon rice bowl (like errrr). So here's the recipe that I got and it tasted quite good. Preparation time took like 3 hours though and I kinda put the temperate higher when I wanted to make the skin crispier. Date: 10/13/2016 The recipe from http://www.panlasangpinoymeatrecipes.com/boneless-lechon-belly.htm Ingredients 2 kilos whole pork belly slab, remove the bones if any For the marinade-brine: 1 stalk of lemon grass, chopped 1 stalk leeks, chopped 2 pieces of laurel (bay leaves) 1 Tbsp. ground black peppercorn 5 cloves garlic, crushed ¼ cup sugar ½ cup rock salt 5 cups of water For the stuffings: 1 stalk of lemon grass 1 stalk on leeks 1 pc onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, crushed For the milk wash: 3 Tbsp. evaporated milk 1 Tbsp. water Inst

In Situ Guest Chef, Virgilio Martinez

Book Signing by Virgilio Course 1: Geoduck Clam, Airampa, and lemongrass cream Course 2: Ocas (New Zealand Yam) and Avocado Course 3: Corn Tiger's Milk (ceviche's liquid) and seaweed Course 4: Tomatoes Pachamanca Course 5: Amazonian Hot Ceviche The ceviche was really nicely done but I feel like it doesn't differentiate much with the other cevicherias! Course 6: Colors of Quinoa, Beef Heart, and Kiwicha This was interesting because of the Beef Heart Shavings (which tasted like beef jerky). I find it interesting and the food pretty, rather than tasteful and below is how their dried beef heart looks like.... Course 7: Fruits and Coca leaves This was small slices of mangos, passion fruit, etc.  It was sweet and good (but I have bias for Filipino Mangoes which I love the tast though. Course 8: Octopus in its Coral Love Grilled Octopus but it was tad spicy for me... I prolly would just prefer just the Octopus wit

Lumpia Palooza SOMA StEat Food Park

SOMA StEat Food Park Address: 428 11th St, San Francisco, CA 94103 https://www.facebook.com/events/773859732757161/ October 8, 2016 I was happy that Jeepney Guy was there to serve lechon (Roast Pork Belly, instead of the whole Pig). But tad pricy for a bowl of rice and lechon for 10 dollars. Also, there was an entrance for 5 dollars which normally it is free. But there were games like Lumpia Wrapping and the custard frozen bar had soem Ube shaving and Ube drizzle. Yummy!
